Ella Horn is the 18 year old daughter of Shawn and Tammy
Horn of Carterville. She is a senior at Carterville High School,
where she is a four year member of the CHS sideline club and
competitive varsity cheer team, National Honor Society,
Spanish World Language Club, Pep Club, Fellowship of
Christian Athletes, Interact Club and Student Council.
Ella has received the IHSA and ICC academic teammate
award, the Carterville cheerleading spirit award, the
Carterville High School standout student award, high honors
all four years of high school and has been pinned as a CNA
through John A. Logan College. In March she was accepted
into the competitive nursing program at John A Logan and
plans to obtain her BSN and become a registered nurse,
specializing in pediatrics.
She has coached cheerleading and tumbling at Snow Power
Gymnastics for three years and worked as a model at
Chrislyns Formals and Eccentrics Boutique. Ella says, “my faith
is very important within my life and I love spending time at
church and Bible studying.” She’s been to Disney World 15
times and says it is one of her favorite places to make
memories. She also enjoys watching local musical theatre as
well as Broadway shows. During her time as a Carterville High
School Cheerleader, Ella has placed within the top ten at the
IHSA state series all four years. She has cheered for seven
years and participated in competitive dance for nine years
prior. Aside from pageants and cheerleading, she also is an avid duck and turkey hunter. Ella held the title of Junior Miss
Carterville Free Fair in 2022 and is currently serving as the
2024 Miss Illinois Heart Teen. Ella’s on stage question at the pageant was “If crowned as Princess Flame, how do you plan on juggling the responsibilities of the crown with the demands of your everyday life?” Her answer was, “As a student athlete on high honor roll, I often am involved in many things that require me to prioritize what is most important to me. If I was given the title, I would make this a top priority in order to be a role model for those younger than me.”
The Old King Coal Festival Committee wishes Ella Horn,
much success in her role as the 2024 Princess Flame as she
pursues her education and fulfills her role as Princess Flame
throughout the year.
